Holiday Travel - Plan Ahead For Airport Parking

Most travelers are very aware of the importance of arriving early at the airport. But more often than not, travelers often overlook on thing that can cause them a lot of headache and loss of time before they actually step into the terminal building: airport parking.

Many travelers just assume that they'll be able to pull right into the airport economy parking lot and grab a spot close to their terminal building. They've got their ticket ready and left a lot of time to get through airport security. But when they pull into the parking lot, they discover that every single economy lot is completely full! Or it could even be worse - every single parking lot at the whole airport is full. Such may be the case during the holiday travel times. They can fill up fast.

However, there are still some ways that you can avoid getting stuck at the airport without a parking spot. Naturally, the best course of action is to completely avoid driving your car to the airport at all. Simply take a tax, bus, shuttle, or any other form of public transportation. Or you can always arrange for friend or family to drop you off, but this, of course, inconveniences them a bit. And what if you have an early morning flight and don't want to force them to get up at 3 am? Well, another option is off-site services. They can shuttle you to the airport at any time if you make advanced arrangements. If you live in a populated area, you can also probably find a number of shared services that will pick you up right at your home. These services just split the cost amongst the other riders to save you money.

But if you feel like you really need to drive by yourself, you might want to keep in mind that you may even be able to make online reservations for a parking spot. It depends on where you're located, because many airports don't offer this service yet, but it's worth checking into, right? But if you're flying at one of America's larger airports, like New York or Chicago, they probably offer advanced reservations through a variety of companies.
