Stuck

Stix n Brix
Clayton, NC

We left Lake Jordan Wednesday and pulled in to the driveway at the house to spend a few days here doing things that need doing.  We were gone about 3 weeks and we really didn’t want to come back.  Walking into the house felt even more different than last time.  It just feels like a shell to us.  It’s not “home”.

While we were gone this time, the house was shown only once.  It is being shown this afternoon so we are relaxing in the MH so that we can spy on the prospective buyers.  By spending most of our time in the MH, the house stays clean and show-ready.  I still get my hopes up every time we have a showing.  Think positive thoughts!

Gin’s Mom finally has a date set for her surgery in October.  She has an aneurism and is getting that taken care of.  We want to be nearby for that of course but I think we will have time to take another little trip before then to a familiar place.  We are luckier than so many people yet we are ready to hit the road and not come back.  We still have this house so we have responsibilities here.  Our time will come when it’s meant to be.

Thanks for dropping by, and enjoy each day of your life’s journey by finding beauty in the ordinary.

Freaks and geeks

48 cylinders with 46 too many, plus you couldn't even reach the bars ... comon!
I'd say it's about time to jump off that thing.
 This is actually pretty cool.
 Bad ass
I would want to wear a helmet just to sit on this thing, did you see all that nitrous ? Or maybe there fire extinguishers .
I would not want to test ride that thing ever but this guy does it in the winter with snow in the background, what a boss.
No need for those brakes caus your not going anywhere ya jackass!

Craft Night: Par-tay at my house!

A couple of weeks ago I hosted a craft night at my house.
I merely hosted.
Kara Noel did all the work.
For reals.
At 38 weeks pregnant she planned & prepped all the crafts.
My friend Jaime and Natalie joined us, along with Nicole from Olive Blue.
It was my first time meeting Nicole and she is DAH-ling!

We started with spray painting some cute patootie pumpkins.
Then we were going to crackle paint them and make the awesome.

While the spray paint dried -
OH! by the way.
This was my first time spray painting a craft.
FOR REALS.

Ok, while the paint dried,
Kara Noel taught us to make some great Halloween embroidery
hoop wall hangings.

They were so fun and Nicole and Kara Noel got all
fancy with the embroidery thread.

And where there is crafting, there is food!

I made my friend's yummy spinach artichoke dip.
(recipe coming soon!)

And of course these EVIL things made their appearance.
I experimented with the strawberry milkshake Oreos,
but I didn't like them as much.

And I had to make homemade kettle corn for
my pregnant craft genius :)

Nicole brought a yummy dessert that everyone gobbled up.

I tried making cranberry spritzers,
they were ok, not fabulous.
So any tips - I'd love!

We crafted late into the night,
and I sent the girls home a little lovely :)

I sent Kara Noel home with some extras
to match their coming home outfits . . .

My crackle pumpkin was a craft FAIL!!!!

The crackle paint hated me and my pumpkin.
I'm glad 99 cent store had a replacement :)

My embroidery hoops are still unfinished,
but I think they are cute and I can't decide whether or not
to do anything else to them.

What do you think?

Should I add something?

Or leave them as they are?

Kara Noel also brought us some RAD wooden earrings from the 99 cent store.
I am obsessed with wooden earrings,
especially ones that cost 99 cents and not $15!

Craft nights with friends rule.
I can't wait to have another one soon!

Road trip recap, Halloween goodies and our Swag Bag Winners!!

Hey kids!

My goodness it has been just non stop busyness since we got back from MN. So much going on all at one time. We're catching up with everything that was put on pause before we left and now that we're back we're already preparing to leave again for our Art is You trip. This means getting our class details all finalized...and making sure that we've got some good stuff for the vendor market. And by good stuff, I mean Halloween stuff, which you can see some sneak peeks of below. But first I wanted to close out the Creative Connection chapter. To start with, a little slide show of our journey home. Now these aren't your usual travel pics...I'd call these "road" pics...literally. I snapped most all of these out of the passenger side window, sometimes while we were going like 70mph...so don't expect perfectly composed landscapes...these are more like glimpses of the American roadside between Minnesota and New Jersey.

Next, I've got a video here announcing our Creative Connection Swag Bag winners. Please excuse our sleepy headed selves...it's a late night for us now that we're back on a semi normal schedule.

(don't forget to pause the blog music before watching...way down at the bottom of this page)

And lastly, as I mentioned up top...here are a couple new Halloween designs. We're excited about these because they're inspired by all of the Art Journaling I've been doing. I'm just so psyched about our new line of original Art Journal stickers...AND our Art Journaling class that we'll be teaching at Art is You...which is just days away!! and it's not to late to decide to come! so sign up! even if it's just for one class...you will not regret it.

So, lot's more Halloween stuff is in the works...hope to post it soon. AND I'm dying to finish some more of these sticker sheets that we've got in progress. They are my absolute FAVE new thing! ok, that's it for now...thanks so so much for stopping by AND for participating in the giveaway. Congrats to the winners! Look forward to a HUGE giveaway coming really soon!

xoxo, Jenny

Rain and Visit

Jordan Lake State Park
Poplar Point CG (site #E100)
Apex, NC

It has rained some just about every day that we’ve been here.  I sure wish there was a way that Texas could get some of this rain to help with the drought out there.  It’s so wet here that big mushrooms are popping up all over the place!

I was surprised to see some Fall colors already showing on this Maple tree.  These red berries are abundant in the area.  Since the birds aren’t eating them, I would assume that they are poisonous.

We are on a waterfront site but we haven’t taken the kayaks out yet.  It’s been too rainy.  We’ve caught up on our rest and we’ve read the book “The Help”.  We like to read aloud using different accents for the characters.  Maybe we’ll get to see the movie soon.

Here’s a typical site here at Poplar Point.  Notice how wooded it is.  It’s water and 30 amp on this one but some sites don’t have electricity.  They are open to the main lake instead of up a cove like we are.

It cleared up enough today to have our friends Gail and Rick of Gypsy Turtles join us for the afternoon.  They are staying nearby at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh and enjoying FHU (50 amp even) for the same price as here ($25).  There aren’t any trees there yet and the sites are close together but it’s much more convenient for appointments.

I think that they enjoyed the trees here and agreed that this is the kind of cg that they like too.  We enjoyed the visit and know that we will run into them again some time down the road.

Thanks for dropping by, and enjoy each day of your life’s journey by finding beauty in the ordinary.
